Born in Washington, DC, and raised in San Francisco and Oakland, California, Kelly’s early cultural and artistic influences from the nation’s capital and the Bay Area quickly set her path for future endeavors.
Honing her transactional skills in international law and the entertainment industry has come from decades of experience. Early legal experiences include representation of West African nations at a boutique law firm
and as an Attorney-Adviser in the Office of the General Counsel at the Department of Commerce, both in Washington, DC. Los Angeles stepping stones included the Consulate of Spain, and Virgin Records.
Having carved out a personal niche and created a career that transcends boundaries and borders, Kelly currently serves as counsel for a successful Los Angeles production company where she advises on global acquisition and distribution, and collaborates with networks on bringing hit series to domestic audiences.
As a multilingual (Spanish, French) attorney with a Juris Doctor (JD) from the Howard University School of Law and an advanced law degree (LLM) with a Specialization in International Law from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, Kelly brings her expertise to cross-border transactions.

Landing a principal role in Spike Lee’s School Daze offered Kelly entrée into the entertainment industry and again set the stage for the future. As a result of this experience and from working with writers, producers and directors on film festivals, indie projects, and features, Kelly is sensitive to matters on both sides of the camera, and to above and below-the-line issues. Her keen intellect and natural, confident style contribute to her success in gaining access to some of the most talented individuals and desired opportunities on the big screen.
Beginning her legal career at Virgin Records, Kelly negotiated and drafted multitudes of publishing and licensing agreements, along with handling tour support for artists such as Lenny Kravitz, Paula Abdul and Soul II Soul. Her love of music has allowed her to build relationships with artists and executives across the industry, and to work with talent both in and outside of the US., and Westwind Artists, of the Tony! Toni! Toné! Brand.
Kelly has worked for years with numerous actors, producers and writers to help them meet their desired objectives. As counsel for a production company with hit series to its credit, she regularly advises on and drafts production, talent and other contracts with networks and artists’ representatives.
